Goa works best when you leave space in the day. This 3-day itinerary keeps mornings outdoors, afternoons slow, and evenings for food — the rhythm most first-time visitors actually enjoy.
Live weather for Panaji sits near the top of this guide so you can swap a beach morning for Old Goa if rain shows up.
Day 1 — North Goa beaches
Start in Calangute or Baga only if you want the busy strip. For a calmer first day, base yourself near Anjuna or Vagator.
- Morning: swim and walk the shoreline before 10am, when the sand is quieter.
- Late morning: brunch at a beach shack — order something simple (xacuti, grilled fish, or a fresh lime soda).
- Afternoon: browse Anjuna flea-market stalls if it is a Wednesday; otherwise nap or read under an umbrella.
- Sunset: Vagator cliff or Chapora fort for the classic wide view.
Keep the first night easy. Goa nightlife is better when you are not exhausted from a red-eye and a packed checklist.
Day 2 — Old Goa and Panaji
Leave the beach belt and head inland. Old Goa is compact and best in the morning before the heat peaks.
- Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral — 60–90 minutes is enough if you are not museum-hopping.
- Drive or taxi to Fontainhas, Panaji’s Latin Quarter. Walk the colour-blocked lanes and stop for a coffee.
- Lunch: Goan thali or prawn curry with rice. If you eat meat, try a vindaloo that is actually tangy, not just hot.
- Evening: Mandovi riverfront. A sunset cruise is optional; a walk and a bakery stop is often better.
Day 3 — South-leaning slow day
If you have a scooter and a full day, point south toward Colva or Palolem. If you would rather stay north, do a spice plantation or a quieter beach like Morjim.
